Vision Therapy
There are many eye problems that cannot be treated with glasses and/or contact lenses alone. Vision therapy is an individualized treatment program prescribed by a doctor of optometry to help improve these conditions, which include strabismus (crossed eyes) and amblyopia (lazy eye). A vision therapy program can help patients learn or reinforce specific visual skills to help eliminate or reduce symptoms like blurred vision, double vision or skipping lines when reading.
Vision therapy is an effective treatment for various vision problems, however success depends on the motivation of the individual. This is because a treatment program typically involves both in-office visits and at-home exercises. Program length will vary depending on the issue being treated, patient motivation and the desired level of improvement. Depending on the vision problem, a program can take as little as a few months or up to a year or longer. Contact us for further information or to set up an appointment with an optometrist.
