Important Update to Our Fees – Ensuring the Care You Deserve

At Ambleside Family Optometry, we have always been committed to providing you and your loved ones with the highest quality eye care. We have carefully considered this change, which reflects our profession’s evolving challenges.

Why the Change?
The Alberta Government has recently reduced the fees it reimburses for essential eye care services. These cuts come after nearly a decade without any adjustments for inflation, leaving reimbursement rates far below the actual cost of providing care. In fact, for each Alberta Health Care (AHC) insured appointment, we were incurring losses of up to $100. With the new reductions, this gap has widened further, making it unsustainable to continue absorbing these costs.

We understand that this change may be unexpected and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause. We have made every effort to keep these fees as minimal as possible. Please know that this decision was made with the utmost consideration for our patients and the sustainability of providing high-quality eye care.
